Project Type: Cleanup Activities
Activities: NVCOG’s RLF Committee awarded the Waterbury Development Corporation a subgrant of $200,000 at the historical Nova Dye & Print Corporation site for cleanup activities. The funds were used for removal of impacted soil, concrete and groundwater sampling, installation of monitoring wells, and other cleanup activities to help prepare the site for redevelopment. Construction of the now George Tirado Sr. Park was completed in 2023 and provides a safe space for recreational opportunities in a neighborhood that previously had little access to green space.
Project Status: Cleanup activities have been completed and post-remedial monitoring and reporting is ongoing. The project is anticipated to be fully completed by the spring of 2026.
