Activities: NVCOG’s Revolving Loan Fund Committee approved a loan of $748,250 to 281 Canal Shelton, LLC to conduct cleanup activities at the former Ascom Hasler facility in 2024. The 1.87-acre site, located along the Housatonic River in downtown Shelton historically operated as a crucible and wire manufacturing facility, and currently contains a vacant, 82,000 square-foot structure. Remedial funding was used to address contaminated soils and all activities were completed in the spring of 2025.
Project Status: As of May, 2026, the redevelopment of a new four story, mixed-income residential building with 129 mixed-rate apartments has been completed and are open for rentals.
