The Naugatuck Valley Council of Governments (NVCOG) is excited to share the winning photos from our first-ever regional photo contest. Our 19 municipalities hold many attractions that bring visitors to the region, but the residents who call those communities home know the little things that make them truly special. The contest gave residents an opportunity to showcase the small-town favorites, notable landmarks, colorful sceneries, and meaningful sights that reflect what home means to them.

The winning photos will be used in NVCOG’s first Regional Plan of Conservation and Development, a 10-year planning document that outlines how our 19 municipalities will grow and improve over the next decade. The photos will also be featured on our website, across our social media platforms, and in other official NVCOG planning documents.

Each winner received a gift card to a local establishment in the community where their photo was taken.

As a regional planning agency, NVCOG works with municipal officials to acknowledge the voices and needs of the residents in our outreach to incorporate their lived experiences in our planning.

From buildings and parks to animals and scenic views, everyone has something that makes their community special. That is why we wanted to spotlight the places and moments that make each municipality unique, and the things that residents appreciate best.
